A Vitamix is soooooo much more than a blender! We use ours every day, throughout the day, for everything from smoothies and ice cream, to butter and peanut butter, to grinding grain and almond flour, to making creamed soups and baby food!

It gets a LOT of use during canning season too! We can the best applesauce ever by cutting the core off the apples, cooking till soft, and throwing in the Vitamix, peel and all (plus a dash of cinnamon!). We pour the hot applesauce straight from the Vitamix into jars to be canned in a water bath. Besides saving time, blending the peel with the applesauce adds nutrition, a beautiful pink color, and boatloads of flavor to the finished applesauce!

I don’t think I could count how many different kinds of ice cream we’ve made in our Cuisinart, everything from rich, creamy, custard vanilla bean ice cream, to orange sorbet with maple syrup, to decadent chocolate coconut milk ice cream sweetened with agave. My mouth is watering just thinking about it….

But really, it is so handy and so much deliciously amazing fun to have fresh, homemade ice cream any time you want it, with whatever ingredients you choose, in whatever flavor you choose.

Yep, my ice cream maker definitely belongs on this list!

Inexpensive Corn Grinder

This is the inexpensive hand crank grain mill I use for our homegrown flour corn. It costs around $22.
