$200 Outsunny Greenhouse Review: Cheap Greenhouse Kit From Amazon

This Outsunny greenhouse kit is easy to assemble and perfect for gardeners that aren’t very handy (me!). It costs $200 on Amazon and is 6 1/2’x10. I just posted a greenhouse kit review on my YouTube channel, which you can watch below!

Although we’ve had temperatures in the 20’s and are still getting snow, quite a few seeds have germinated out in the greenhouse!

I picked this greenhouse because of the heavy frame. I’m anticipating that the cover will have to be replaced often, so my plan is to start some extra seedlings to sell each year and hopefully cover that cost.

So far I’ve been really happy with the Outsunny greenhouse. It’s withstood a lot of wind (with T posts added at each corner to anchor it). Like most greenhouses, it tends to lose heat fast after the sun goes down. We added a rock pathway to help retain heat. I would have made the entire beds out of brick, but just couldn’t find any at a reasonable price.

Outsunny also makes a smaller and cheaper 6′ x 8′ version.

How I’m Using my Outsunny Greenhouse

To make the most of my Outsunny greenhouse, I planted some fast growing cool crops in the beds, which wrap around three sides. These include radishes, lettuce, carrots, spinach, beets and snap peas. As I harvest these, I will replace them with heat-loving peppers, bitter melon, ginger and sweet potatoes. In late summer, I’ll be tucking in a new crop of fall transplants similar to my spring veggies.

I’m using the shelves for potted seedlings. My heat-loving tomatoes and peppers are already started indoors. They’ll go in the greenhouse in a few weeks when the cool crops are ready to move outside.

I’m planning on posting an update in a year or so on how well the Outsunny greenhouse held up, so stay tuned!

2 Year Greenhouse Update

Its been two years, and I know some of you have been asking for an update on my Outsunny greenhouse!

The first year, one of the door zippers broke. While it might not seem like a big deal, there was no way to close up the greenhouse for winter with a broken zipper! I contacted Outsunny and they sent me a new greenhouse cover for free.

Originally when I researched this Outsunny greenhouse, someone said you could buy replacement greenhouse covers. My plan was to replace the cover every 2 years or whenever it was needed. But when I went to order another cover, I found that individual parts for the greenhouse are not available.

For now I am still using the replacement cover that the company sent me. The screen on the windows only lasted one summer, but the plastic is holding up great and I haven’t had any zipper problems with this one.

For replacement, I went ahead and bought a roll of regular greenhouse plastic for when I need it.

As far as the frame, it is holding up great and I am very pleased with it! We’ve gotten a lot of snow this winter, and while I do knock it off the greenhouse whenever we get more than a couple inches, it’s still hard on a greenhouse!

I did make a mistake when I originally anchored it to T posts. I put the posts on the sides of the greenhouse, which allowed the whole thing to move back and forth about 2 feet when we got heavy winds. I moved them so they are a foot out from each corner and haven’t had that issue since.
